wow … time flies

October? Really? That’s the last time I updated this blog? Shameful! lol

In my defense, I started a new job in August, lost interest a bit in cross stitching and really didn’t have anything exciting to talk about .. much like right now :-/

I’ve been spending a LOT of time on pinterest and facebook.
So many ideas, so little time (regarding pinterest)
I *have* done some stuff over the past few months .. I made a boatload of things to sell at a holiday craft fair, then found out the ones I wanted to sell at were sold out. Damn.

Apropos of nothing, I recently joined a gym. (Ok, one week ago I joined, whatever, that’s ‘recent’)
I went four days in a row after that, was off work Fri and Sat so didn’t go then.
But I will be back tonight! As it is so close to my job, I intend to hit it every night when I leave .. considering I don’t end up falling asleep til close to 6AM anyhow, I might as well put that time awake to good use. God willing, and with some hard work on MY part, I hope to be down many pounds by the summer. We’ll see.
The upside is that this time, I’m motivated. All the other times I started half-heartedly. I’m committed to getting healthy, losing weight, being active and looking better. (fingers crossed, wish me well)

oh hey, I’m still here. Just not very inspired lately.
In case you haven’t heard, I now have a job (yay!)
I started in the beginning of August and so far it is going well. I like it (a BIG plus for anyone who has to work) and the hours are great (night work – I get to sleep late every single day)
I haven’t been very motivated to make anything of late. I have tons of ideas, mind you, but no motivation.
I’ve been spending WAY too much time on Pinterest, saving ideas and recipes and pictures … all for when I get my mojo back once again.
Mr Crafty is contemplating starting a food blog. He loves to cook (thank goodness or we’d starve) and is quite pleased with his creations.
Some day … I need to help him set it all up and teach him how to use it. When I started this blog a few years ago it was very daunting to learn all the bells and whistles – and I think he’d prefer to write his posts HIMself, not have me do it for him. So stay posted
I’ve learned that the Hayloft is closing (the fabric store in Morgantown,PA) and that distresses me. I only got to visit it once or twice a year, if that, and to know it’s going for good is not making me happy. I always loved looking around in there and sorting through the castoff bins to find bits and pieces of things that would make great purses.
I hope you all are enjoying this brisk fall weather as much as I do – this is my time of year.

embellished tee attempt

I am very interested in upcycling my clothes, so i have been reading a lot of blogs about just that. I must credit www.makeit-loveit.com with the instructions for creating this …..

I used a poly/cotton fabric (like tee-shirt cotton) to avoid fraying. Using this softer fabric results in a nice curling, which I like.
I am going to try it with a stiffer cotton fabric later, to see how it lays.
Not bad, huh? Good way to dress up your shirts (or sweaters, or purses, or pillows or … or …..)

Hurricane Irene passed us by with only some heavy rain and gusty winds. All is well in my part of the world

Anyhow, I saw this idea on another blog (I’d credit them, but it was several weeks ago, and now i forget which one it was .. sorry)
This is a great way to hold your ribbons, way better than my last idea, which I won’t even talk about lol

Here is another altered book I made for someone I love who has moved to CA
He will be missed very much. He writes lyrics so I made him this book to use for his compositions.

And the last picture I have to share is a little purse I made. I bought some adorable Bambi lounge pants at a thrift store, knowing I would recycle it – here is the end result:

I’ve also been embellishing some tees and refashioning flip flops (although i do not have pics of those) I’ve been busy googling various tutorials that I want to try out.
